The ‘Special One’ made a return to his usual flamboyant style after Manchester Untied’s defeat to Hull City when he mocked Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger and the FA.
Mourinho wasn’t happy despite his team progressing to the EFL Cup final over two legs. He said: “I only saw two goals. It was 1-1. We are still undefeated.” The statement was clearly aimed at referee John Moss who awarded Hull city a controversial penalty against the Red Devils as the defeat put an end to a 17-games unbeaten run.
Arsene Wenger did not escape unscathed too in the short time of the post-match conference from which visibly upset Mourinho stormed out.
Referring to Wenger’s sending off for a push on the referee during the weekend, he said: “I behaved on the bench, no sending-off, no punishment so no more words.” The two managers have exchanged flying tomahawks before and clearly none of them are yet buried.
Mourinho then moved onto Jurgen Klopp who had blamed Liverpool’s defeat at the hands of Southampton on the windy conditions the day before.
“I don’t think we are favourites against nobody. It doesn’t matter who or where, we are never favourites. Normally the stadium is windy and it is difficult.”
The Portuguese manager is no stranger to bold statements. His rant about UEFA supporting Barcelona through its referees during his stay at Madrid has been just one of many instances of his affair with controversy. The Special One has returned to us.
