After he seemed to make an offensive gesture in reaction to Lionel Messi chants during a Saudi Pro League match, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be investigated for his actions.

In Sunday’s 3-2 triumph over Al Shadab, the Portugal international started the score for Al Nassr. Anderson Talisca secured all three points with a brace in the second half.

Video footage from social media shows the former Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus forward’s response to the supporters’ cries for “Messi,” a longtime Ballon d’Or rival of Ronaldo during his time playing in Europe, at the end of the match.

Before continuously pumping his hand in front of his pelvic region, the 39-year-old was spotted cupping his hand in the direction of Al Shadab fans.

The national football association (SAFF) of Saudi Arabia has reportedly launched an inquiry, according to the Saudi daily Asharq al-Awsat. Despite Ronaldo’s prominence as a recruit for the Saudi Pro League in recent years, some local analysts think he ought to be punished.

Ronaldo had already been in trouble previously for similar inappropriate actions on the pitch. When Al Nassr lost 2-0 to Al Hilal in the Riyadh Season Cup final in April, he shoved a scarf from the same team down his shorts and threw it away. He also seemed to grip his genitals later on.

Despite having scored 22 goals this season in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr team is now seven points behind Al Hilal at the top of the standings.
