Following Monday night’s 4-2 victory over Newcastle United at home, Dominik Szoboszlai suffered a hamstring injury.

With the score tied at 1-1 after sixty-four minutes of play at Anfield, Szoboszlai was substituted by fellow summer signing Ryan Gravenberch. Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz were both taken off the field at the same moment, so the substitution did not appear to indicate an injury to the Hungarian, despite the player’s slight limping.

Szoboszlai will miss Liverpool’s FA Cup round three matchup against Arsenal on Sunday. He will get a scan in the following days to find out the extent of the injury and how many games he could miss.

However, in a post-match interview with the media, Klopp said that Szoboszlai had developed an issue just before he was replaced. Klopp stated, “We intended to pull him off; that was the idea, but unfortunately, it was a minute late because he felt the hamstring issue at the last moment. We have to wait as we don’t yet know the extent of it.”

On January 10, Liverpool will play the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham. On January 21, they will travel to Bournemouth to resume Premier League play. The Reds host Chelsea at Anfield after playing the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal to round off January.

Liverpool’s victory against Newcastle on Monday gave them a three-point lead atop the Premier League standings. With a remarkable total of 7.2 predicted goals, Mohamed Salah’s brace and goals from Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo propelled Klopp’s team to victory.

As Szoboszlai sustained a further injury, Alexis Mac Allister, who had been out due to a knee issue, returned to the field for the last fifteen minutes for Liverpool.
