Liverpool is considering organising a farewell parade around the city at the end of the campaign to allow supporters to bid adieu to manager Jurgen Klopp.

After nine years of assistance at Anfield, the German will depart the team at the end of the current campaign. According to rumours flying around, Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen is the front-runner to replace him.

According to The Times, Liverpool has internally discussed holding a parade to honour Klopp at the end of the season. Although there’s a chance the Reds won’t take home any more silverware this season, their victory with the Carabao Cup on Sunday would normally not warrant a parade.

Klopp will be contacted before any decisions are made, though, since his impending departure has forced an “at executive level” reconsideration.

Due to their current position atop the Premier League and advancement to the FA Cup and Europa League semifinals, Klopp’s Liverpool team is still vying for three more titles. The team would need to be invited by Liverpool’s city government to conduct a march through the streets for any preparations to proceed.

The last Liverpool parade took place in 2022, a day following their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid in Paris. They commemorated that event by winning the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, two titles they had almost missed out on, along with the European Cup and Premier League.

In 2019, the Reds organised a parade to commemorate their Champions League final victory against Tottenham Hotspur, which drew an estimated 750,000 spectators to Liverpool’s streets.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the team was unable to celebrate their Premier League victory—Liverpool’s firstEnglish league title in thirty years—with a parade in 2020.
