Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye has revealed that he would love to join Chelsea should manager Antonio Conte assure him of a starting spot.
Chelsea sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old during Arsenal’s clash with the Serbian club yesterday, and it is believed they have identified him as potential replacement for Michy Batshuayi. Despite failing to net against the Gunners, Boakye believes he is up to the task should he be given the chance by Chelsea.
“I am playing well, so we’ll see who will come contact me.” he told Belgrade newspaper Novosti. “If I’m going to play for Chelsea, then I’ll go.”
Conte will look to strengthen The Blues’ front-line in January after a relatively inactive summer in the transfer market has left him with only two options to choose from – Batshuayi and Alvaro Morata.
And while Morata hit the ground running since his arrival to Stamford Bridge, with 12 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions, his form has taken a dip since the end of September.

The Italian is not unfamiliar with Boakye having worked with him at Juventus in 2012. The Ghanaian moved on loan spells to Sassuolo and Elche before making a permanent switch to Atalanta in 2014 and then to Latina two years later.
Boakye joined Red Star in January after spending a year and a half on loan with them. He has 30 goals in 41 appearances for the Serbian club so far.
He is currently tied to the Serbian club until 2020 and is evaluated at around £5 million.
