Ian Maatsen, Chelsea’s full-back, will go out on loan at Borussia Dortmund till the end of the current campaign.

Dortmund’s option to make the arrangement permanent is not included in the contract. In the summer, Maatsen’s desire to stay put prevented Chelsea from accepting a £31.5 million offer from Burnley for him.

To abide by FFP regulations following significant expenses made over the previous three transfer windows, the Blues are probably willing to sell the 21-year-old in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Last season, while on loan at Burnley, Maatsen contributed significantly to the Clarets’ Championship triumph. With 12 appearances coming off the bench this season, the Netherlands Under-21 international has only made three starts with the Blues.

Chelsea is willing to buy a striker during this transfer window, but they are not likely to invest the funds necessary to get Ivan Toney from Brentford or Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
