Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has admitted that new Arsenal signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan could undergo a revival at the Emirates following his move from Old Trafford.
The deal was announced yesterday night, and it involved Sanchez joining the Red Devils to become the best paid footballer in the Premier League with Mkhitaryan going the opposite direction following a difficult season under Jose Mourinho.
Mkhitaryan’s photo shoot has already been posted on the Arsenal website, and Giggs has hinted that Mkhitaryan’s career could be put back on track at the Emirates should Arsene Wenger push the right buttons with the creative maestro.
“Maybe it will work out for him at Arsenal and he’ll set the place on fire, so I’m not sure who has got the best part of the deal, but Sanchez has scored and assisted more goals in the Premier League” Giggs told Sky Sports (via Goal.com).
“I think as well as every United fan I was excited to see Henrikh Mkhitaryan join the club and he looked on the outset like a United player, scoring and creating goals.
“I played with Juan Sebastian Veron, who was one of the most talented players on the planet, but sometimes it happens where it doesn’t work out, maybe because of his injuries or maybe being played out of position.”
Mkhitaryan is expected to be reunited with former Borussia Dortmund teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the comming days despite Wenger refusing to clarify on what the situation in today’s press conference at the Emirates.
The Armenian creative midfielder and Aubameyang enjoyed a fruitful partnership at the German outfit between 2013 and 2016 – scoring or assisting every 59 minutes on average in their last season together.
Mkhitaryan joins Arsenal having made only 39 games and scored nine goals in two seasons for the Red Devils.
