Arsene Wenger has responded to recent criticism by claiming that nothing Arsenal could do is going to be good enough for them, Mirror reports.
Wenger is facing protests from ambitious fans who want to see Arsenal challenge on all fronts consistently as the French manager’s contract runs out at the end of the season.
Passions were set alight by Arsenal’s two 5-1 defeats to Bayern Munich, a record loss under Wenger, which saw them fail to qualify for the Champions League quarter finals for the ninth year running.
“Nothing is good enough anymore so, anyway, you try to do as well as you can.” Wenger said.
“Success, it’s not down to me to judge that. I’ll leave that to you. Our job is to do as well as we can until the end of the season. We want to play in the Champions League next season.
“We have a tough job because there are six or seven teams fighting for the places and how well we do until the end of the season will, of course, depend on that.
“We are in the semi-final of the FA Cup, we have an opportunity to do that as well. Overall, that’s our target.
“Success is basically to get the maximum out of the potential of the team. What is that? We’ll see.”
Arsenal continue their quest for Champions League qualification on Saturday against West Brom.
