In the upcoming January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur is still interested in acquiring Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth and hopes to add a centre-back, sources have revealed.

Under Ange Postecoglou’s direction, Spurs have emerged as the surprise package of the Premier League season so far. With eight victories and two draws from their first 10 games, Spurs are now atop the standings going into November. Tottenham’s roster is still quite weak, and there is a noticeable drop-off between their starting lineup and reserves, despite their great play this season and their legitimate top spot in the rankings.

The Ball Is Square has learned that Kelly is still very much on the Spurs’ radar and that they would prioritiсe making a deal for a new central defence when the January transfer market opens.

Late in the summer transfer season, Tottenham made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Kelly for £20 million; instead, Bournemouth decided to hang onto the former Ipswich Town player, who was approaching the end of his contract. According to reports from September, Spurs are anticipated to make a comeback with a bid in January, although they will likely face competition from Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Kelly’s status is now being monitored by Fulham and West Ham United as well, and interest from overseas may complicate matters further. Kelly has attracted the likes of Serie A teams Juventus and Milan in addition to German Borussia Dortmund. It would be possible for foreign teams to discuss a pre-contract with Kelly starting in January, something that English teams are not allowed to do, while Kelly might not be able to sign a contract with a Premier League team right away since Bournemouth does not want to lose him in January.
