Former England and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has backed Manchester City’s John Stones to become of the world’s best defenders in the future.
The 22-year-old, who was snatched by City from Everton in 2016, is not experiencing his best of times in his first season at City, but Campbell believes the club offers him the right environment to flourish.
“I think he’s definitely got one of the best managers in the world to teach him and guide him through the pitfalls of football.” Campbell told Omnisport.
“He’s lucky that he’s there and definitely he’s benefitting from having better players around him. He’s got the environment, the manager and the players around him to hopefully make him into one of the best defenders in the world in time.”
Stones has made 47 appearances for City so far, winning Man of the Match on one occasion.
