Raul Sanllehi joins Arsenal

Former Barcelona director of football Raul Sanllehi has joined Arsenal, arsenal.com reports.

Sanllehi’s move is official, and he will become the new direct of football at Arsenal, responsible for future player negotiations alongside Arsene Wenger, Ivan Gazidis and Huss Fahmy.

Club chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “Raul’s appointment is another important step in developing the infrastructure we need at the club to take everything we do to the next level.

“Raul has extensive contracts across the football world and has been directly involved in some of the biggest transfers in Europe in recent years.

“We look forward to him bringing that expertise to Arsenal.”

Sanllehi moves to London after 14 years working at Barcelona. He is responsible for Cesc Fabregas, Thomas Vermaelen and Thierry Henry moving to Catalonia as well as engineering Neymar’s world-record move to PSG this summer.

He will official take on the new job in February, missing the January transfer window.
