Manchester United want Valencia prospect Carlos Soler

Manchester United have started negotiations for Valencia youngster Carlos Soler, the Sun reports.

According to the reports, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho will be looking to patch things up in central midfield for next season as Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick are all in their final year at Old Trafford.

The Spain U-21 international, who joined the first team in 2016, has already made 30 appearances and scored three goals for his home club as Mourinho has identified him as a long-term solution to partner Paul Pogba and summer-signing Nemanja Matic.

The 20-year-old could, however, cost United in excess of £75 million should they decide to buy him in the summer.

Soler is a very adaptable footballer with keen footballing intelligence. He started his career as a clear-cut centre forward due to showing remarkable goal-scoring talent but has been pushed back to attacking midfield, and even to defensive midfield under Valencia legend Ruben Baraja in the Valencia B squad in bid to develop his wholesome game.

Despite holding a huge buy-out clause, the youngster insists this is not bothering him.

“That’s something done by the club, by agents” he said earlier. “When I go out on the pitch to play, I’m not thinking ‘wow, I’ve got a really high buy-out clause and I’ve got a lot of responsibility on my shoulders.’”

Soler’s current contract with Valencia runs out in 2021.
