Herrera growing frustrated at United contract talk silence

Ander Herrera is reportedly growing frustrated at being left in limbo about his future as Manchester Untied are yet to offer the player new contract terms.

Herrera, 28, has been pushing for a new deal for the last 12 months with contract negotiations having started in early September but no solution has been reached yet as his contract is set to run out next year.

The Spaniard is currently earning £75,000 a week, and United are believed to be waiting for the last possible moment to trigger his one-year automatic extension or negotiate a new and improved contract in bid to delay making unnecessary payments.

The Bilbao man is fully aware that there is solid interest for him from Spanish sides, and particularly from Barcelona where his former manager Ernesto Valverde took over from Luis Enrique in the summer.

Despite the links, the midfielder has opted to stay and fight for his place, but has found his playing time limited by the arrivals of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.

Herrera was handed his first Premier League start of the season in the 2-2 draw with Stoke and played the full 90 minutes against Liverpool on Saturday.
