Manchester City dealt blow by latest Aubameyang development

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has dealt a blow to Manchester City’s hopes of bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer, by saying the club will only consider offers from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

It appears the player has informed Dortmund officials that he would not be willing to transfer to  clubs other than the Top Two La Liga sides.

It is believed Pep Guardiola enquired about the player last summer but was put off by the £70 million price tag, but the current development and the signing of Gabriel Jesus in January is likely to put an end to any further speculation about the player.

“I think he will stay with us.” Watzke said. “But if Real Madrid or Barcelona come along with an offer, maybe we’ll think about it.

“The rest of the clubs who are interested in him are not really an alternative for him. And certainly not Bayern Munich because we wouldn’t allow him to join them.”

The 27-year-old goal-scorer has three years left on his contract with Borussia.
