Andre Onana, the goalie for Manchester United, confirmed that the Anfield atmosphere did not frighten him during Sunday’s 0-0 tie with Liverpool.

After a disappointing 2023–24 season, the Red Devils were expected to suffer yet another ocrushing defeat at Merseyside, with their humiliating 7–0 loss in March still fresh in their minds.

Jurgen Klopp’s team got off to a strong start and inspired the home crowd at Anfield early on, but in the end, United were able to hold off their opponents, limiting them to crosses and long attempts that went straight into many defenders. When questioned about the atmosphere following the match, Onana gave a direct answer, saying he felt nothing.22

During Sunday night’s match, Onana seemed a touch unsteady when it came to crosses, but he bounced back and made eight vital stops to help United hold onto a draw. While United probably had better opportunities during the match, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund were both denied by close-range saves by Alisson in the second half. Liverpool had 34 efforts, but many of those were off-target or blocked.

As Arsenal, who Klopp’s team will host at Anfield on Saturday night, defeated Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa had the opportunity to take the lead, if only momentarily, in the Premier League with a victory against Sheffield United at home on Friday. Unfortunately, the Gunners defeated the Brighton team.

At least Erik ten Hag’s team was able to shake off their recent losing streak at Old Trafford, which included limp victories against Bayern Munich and Bournemouth. On Saturday, they will visit West Ham.
