As Real Madrid defeated Cadiz 3-0 on Sunday, Jude Bellingham scored his 14th goal of the season, shattering a record that was held by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Due to a shoulder dislocation he sustained before the international break, Bellingham was doubtful to play against Cadiz. The injury forced the midfielder to withdraw from the England team, but on Sunday, he was back in Madrid’s starting lineup.
The England midfielder, who joined Real Madrid in the summer, has been performing at possibly the best form he’s ever been in. This past weekend, he scored the third goal in a comfortable victory against Cadiz, giving him his 14th goal in 15 appearances.
Bellingham has surpassed Ronaldo, Alfredo di Stefano, and Pruden Sanchez’s records in terms of goals scored in his first 15 games for Real Madrid. For Madrid, the three players scored 13 goals between them in their first 15 competitive games, but Bellingham has now broken those records alone.
Bellingham scored 14 goals throughout the previous campaign, scoring the final one on May 20, 2023, his 42nd and last game for Borussia Dortmund.
Ronaldo scored 33 goals in 35 games in all competitions during his 2009–10 first season with Real Madrid, which raised Bellingham’s bar for his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.
