Despite interest in midfielder Douglas Luiz from Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool, Aston Villa is firm that they aren’t open to considering any deals as of this moment.

All potentially interested clubs have been informed by Villa that Luiz is not up for grabs, and any January proposals for the Brazil international would not be accepted.

Having played in more than 150 Premier League games for Villa, Luiz has contributed two assists and five goals to the team’s success this season as they have surged up to fourth place in the rankings with 28 points after 13 games.

After Arsenal made an initial bid, the midfielder signed a new four-year deal in 2022 and will be at Villa Park until 2026, so club management won’t be under much pressure to consider bids.

Arsenal put in three unsuccessful offers for Luiz in 2022, and have continued to keep an eye on him since, despite their refused offers. Under Unai Emery, Luiz has flourished this season as Villa has solidified its place among the top four contenders.

The Ball Is Square has recently received confirmation from sources that Man City is also interested in Luiz, a player who was signed for two years at the Etihad Stadium but never saw action for the team.

Luiz joined City from Vasco da Gama in 2017 and was loaned to partner team Girona for two years before being permanently sold to Villa for an estimated £15 million.

In addition, Liverpool has stated that they would be open to trying to sign Luiz should he decide to leave Villa, but they have not been given any indication that a transfer is imminent.
