Could Asensio end up at Chelsea?

Chelsea drooling over prospect of signing Real Madrid star

Marco Asensio has issued an ultimatum to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, according to Don Balon.

It is understood he has asked Perez to talk to Zidane in bid to get more playing time as the youngster feels he is being overlooked at present. Should the situation not change, the 21-year-old is believed to be eyeing a move to Chelsea at the end of the season.

There is a mini-crisis at Real Madrid at present. They are trailing 10 points off La Liga leaders Barcelona after 12 games as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema are all struggling to find their mojo this season while Gareth Bale looks to have become a permanent name on the injury list.

The Spaniard is currently finding himself a reserve to Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema as he has only managed to record four full-90-minutes games since the beginning of the campaign. It is understood that he will play a role when the White Ballet travel to Cyprus to play Apoel Nicosia in the fifth match of the Champions League Group H.

Asensio said ahead of the Apoel game: “I don’t feel pressure. I try my best to show what I have on the pitch.

“Apoel won’t be underestimated at their home. I don’t read the press much so I don’t know what they say about me. I see Cristiano with the same desire as before. He always returns to silence others.”

Chelsea are believed to be monitoring the situation closely as Antonio Conte feels the squad is quite thin up front, especially since Michy Batshuayi has been ruled out for several weeks with a foot injury. Asensio can play all along the left side as well as on the No. 10 and striker positions.

Asensio signed a new contract with Real Madrid in September to keep him at the club until 2023.
