Arsenal are to resume their chase for Napoli star Jorginho with potential offer to be made in the next summer transfer window, according to Tuttomercato (via Daily Star).
Jorginho was linked with a move to London this summer, but according to the player’s agent Joas Santos the Gunners did not back their interest with an official offer.
The 25-year-old holding midfielder has become the unsung hero behind Dries Mertens at the Stadio San Paolo this season as the Gli Azzuri occupy the top of the table and are undefeated in 11 games.
Should an offer come from the Gunners, Jorginho might be tempted to accept it in bid to get out of Mertens’ shadow. But should the Gunners wait in their approach beyond January, they could lose the player to other Premier League or Ligue 1 clubs as interest in Jorginho is strong, according to Santos.
With Santi Cazorla still on the sidelines for the rest of the year, Jorginho could do wonders for Arsenal in the centre of the park as he has demonstrated outstanding ability to break oppositional attacks and dictate the tempo of the play. He is currently considered one of Europe’s best passers and has been branded as ‘the most difficult opponent’ by Roma star Radja Nainngolan.

Santos has given the green light to North London by hinting that a move might be possible should the right offer come in.
Jorginho is on the verge of receiving his first international call-up for Brazil despite having a double-citizenship which has allowed him to start in two friendly matches for the Italy national side.
His contract to Napoli stretches to 2020 and doesn’t contain a release clause.
