Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho has been advised to buy Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, The Express reports.
The 24-year-old Portugal international joined Barcelona for €35 million plus add-ons last season, but has so far failed to secure a spot in the first team because of competition from Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic.
Mourinho tried to bring Gomes to Old Trafford last summer but failed in his pursuit and has now been urged by Perez to rekindle his interest in bid to unleash and develop the player’s potential.
It remains unclear why the Real Madrid president would want to meddle with Barcelona’s team structure, but it is believed that he knows Mourinho is the man who can help the player become world class.
The young midfielder was voted La Liga’s worst signing by Marca last season, but also starred in all four games for Portugal in the Confederations Cup, helping them finish third in the process.
