Ivan Toney’s negotiations for a new deal with Brentford are at a deadlock, which has Newcastle United and Arsenal on notice, TBIS can confirm.

After the Brentford Bees showed little interest in signing the England international during the January transfer window, Toney is willing to stay and sign a new contract. But since Brentford put forward their offer to Toney, negotiations have not progressed, raising the alarm of teams like Arsenal, who have been strongly linked to a bid for the 27-year-old in recent months. It’s believed that Mikel Arteta is eager to go for Toney in the summer.

With a need for a striker who can contribute to their domestic roster and maintain consistency, Newcastle is another team which are keeping an eye on Toney. Toney is attracting a lot of interest from German teams as well, so there could be a chance for him to leave England and give one of the premier leagues overseas a go.

Toney, who made his Premier League debut during his three years with the Magpies from 2015 to 2018, is reportedly on Newcastle’s roster as a possible possibility. With Toney’s contract nearing its expiration in the summer of 2025, all possibilities are now on the table. With his contract due to expire on July 1, 2025, the forward will enter the last year of his present agreement this summer.

Toney’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has been informed by the club that if a new agreement cannot be reached, Toney will be placed on the transfer list, placing Brentford in a situation where they will have to sell.

Toney is expected to depart the team after the conclusion of the current season, and as things stand, the contract that has been extended to him has not yet been signed. Currently, Toney is said to be content with the club and appreciative of their treatment of him throughout his gambling violation ban.

With three goals in his past four games since returning to play last month, he has demonstrated why he is one of the Premier League’s most talented attackers.
