Paris Saint-Germain have set the wheels in motion to bring in Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to Parc des Princes in the summer, Yahoo France suggest.
Arsenal are still fighting to keep their key man at the Emirates and have reportedly offered Sanchez a hugely improved £300,000 a weak deal to convince him to stay, but it is believed Sanchez will still stall until the end of the season.
PSG will make an opening bid of £46 million, which is unlikely to satisfy the Gunners, who are keeping their options open but will not listen to offers below £50 million.
The Chilean has been Arsenal’s most influential player this season, having scored 23 goals and assisted for 12 in 42 games, as the Gunners occupy the unsatisfying sixth position.
Sanchez revealed earlier that he would prefer to stay in London, but to play for a ‘winning team’ which was understood as a hint towards a move to Chelsea. Manchester City have also been interested, but Arsenal are unlikely to be willing to let their star man strengthen either of their Premier League rivals.
The Gunners beat Middlesbrough on Monday courtesy of goals by Mesut Ozil and Sanchez who celebrated with passion following the final whistle – something the Arsenal fans saw as a sign of hope they might chose to remain at the club.
But Arsene Wenger has consistently dodged questions about their contract negotiations leading us to believe they are dependent on Arsenal securing a top four position this season.
