Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck will miss the next three weeks of action after sustaining a hamstring injury on Sunday.
Welbeck, 26, was hurt in a clash with Chelsea’s David Luiz in Arsenal’s draw against Antonio Conte’s side.
The English international, who has been the preferred choice of Arsene Wenger up front for the first few games of the new season, will now miss the next two Premier League games as well as today’s League Cup fixture against Doncaster and the Europa League match against BATE Borisov.
“We don’t know how bad his groin is but he will certainly be out until the international break.” Wenger said on Tuesday before the player’s scan.
He is expected to be ready for the game against Watford on October 14.
Mesut Ozil has also been ruled out for tonight’s League Cup fixture against Doncaster because of a knee problem.
Wenger added: “Mesut is training again, but for tomorrow no. He has a little inflammation on his knee.”
