Tottenham Hotspur have already set plans in motion to use the money of Harry Kane’s potential transfer to Real Madrid in the summer with Barcelona's 24-year-old midfielder Andre Gomes on the line, according to Don Balon.

Kane has been heavily linked to a move to Stadiu Bernabeu for a record sum of around £200 million, although there have no official bids from Madrid yet.

Pochettino is well aware that it will be hard for Spurs to resist the advances of Florentino Perez. Madrid are experiencing a slump up front and are desperate to reinforce their goal-scoring personnel. And while the North London club are bent on mounting a serious title-challenge and securing their Champions League spot on a regular basis, they might do better to identify replacements early rather than leave it late.

Mario Plaza of Don Balon writes that Pochettino is particularly interested in bringing in Barcelona’s Gomes. The Portugal international has reportedly asked for a transfer this January, believing that playing chance will suffer after the arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

And Spurs would do nicely to get their man as soon as this month as transfer target Ross Barkley has already moved to Chelsea. Gomes is likely to cost around £40 million. He has already rejected an offer from West Ham in August, but might find playing alongside Dele Alli and Cristian Erikssen too hard to resist.
