Wenger to go after Musonda?

Arsenal want Chelsea rebel Charly Musonda

Arsenal are to offer Chelsea wantaway Charly Musonda a route to first-team football in the January transfer window, according to reports in Foot Mercato.

The Gunners have not made official contact yet but are believed to be closely monitoring Musonda’s situation following news that he will reject any further attempts of the Blues to tie him up with a new contract.

Musonda revealed dissatisfaction with Antonio Conte’s unwillingness to include his into the first team on Instagram earlier, and now reports suggest that he has taken this a step further with a request for a transfer despite Conte’s attempts to defuse the situation by offering him a loan-move.

“He is a talented player” Conte said earlier, “He really has a good chance of becoming a major player in Chelsea, I’m sure.

“This season he may have opportunities to play because we only have three No.10s for two places. He could show that he deserves to play. “

According to Foot mercato, however,  a close friend of Musonda has revealed that  “At 21, Charly believes it is time for him to be part of a base eleven in Europe, regardless of the championship. What he wants is to play regularly to continue his development.

“He knows what he owes to Chelsea of course, but for him now is the time to leave and will not extend his contract that expires in June 2019. He had a great dream, that of playing and scoring at Stamford Bridge is now done.

“The loop is complete for him who had arrived in Chelsea only 15 years old.”

Should the Gunners make a move for the 21-year-old it will be revealing of the club’s surrender in their battle to keep hold of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez who could leave in January. Should this happen, Wenger could give Musonda a run on the wings in Arsenal’s 3-4-3 formation.

The Belgian has made five appearances, two of which in the Premier League, for Chelsea this season. He played 70 minutes and assisted for the Blues’s first goal in their 2-1 victory over Everton in the Carabao Cup last Wednesday.
