Chelsea looking into the possibility of securing Benteke loan deal

Chelsea are now looking into the possibility of bringing in Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke on loan until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues have been linked with a number of tall and powerful strikers among which Peter Crouch, Andy Carrol and Edin Dzeko as Antonio Conte seems to be going for a minor reshuffle to his front-line which includes the offloading of Mitchy Batshuyai by the end of the month.

It is understood Conte would opt for Dzeko, but the big price tag of around £55 million for the 31-year-old striker may deter him. This is probably why the Italian has identified Benteke as a possible attacking partner to summer-signing Alvaro Morata, who has been under heavy criticism for not being clinical enough.

The latest reports however suggest Roy Hodgson is unwilling to let go of his main striker mid-way through the season. But Crystal Palace might be convinced to part ways with Benteke should a serious offer to buy their striker arrive from Stamford Bridge.

Benteke has been unimpressive this season, with only one goal in 17 games to his name as Palace find themselves five points above the relegation zone following the busy start of the new year.
