Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has added to bank of his brilliant musings by branding Barcelona’s historic 6-1 second-leg beating of PSG a possible ‘heist of the century’, Eurosport reports.
Barcelona overcame PSG in the Champions League Round of 16 by scoring three goals in the dying stages of the match at Camp Nou to come back from a 4-0 defeat in the first leg.
The win was trailed by dubious decisions by referee Deniz Aytekin, who gave the Catalans two penalties, which left many neutrals questioning the historic comeback. Cantona was one of doubters, with Suarez, in particular, making a strong impression on him with his theatrical skills.
“Suarez is not a biter any more, he’s a diver.” Cantona said. “Not a very good one, way too dramatic. Such blatant cheating with his hand on the throat, look of agony, bullshit!
“This is football porn. Kids should not be allowed to watch.
“For some, it was a miracle on grass. For others, it was the heist of the century. Either way, it was epic. There were only 12 people on the field who actually believed in the possibility of Barca qualifying: Neymar…and the 11 players of Paris.”
Cantona is no stranger to controversy of any kind and has shown to have enviable poetic ability. He once cryptically said in a press conference:
“When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.” – meaning the journalists were not going to get the answers they were trying to provoke out of him. The brilliant answer caused major applause to erupt from everyone.
